Hello everyone! I'm Jez Pankhania.
As I write this, I really am in shock! How many of you have gone to buy something only to find that the the sale of the person you want to sell? That's exactly what happened to me on 3 separate occasions in the last 2 weeks!
You see I am doing is married in October this year and as you can imagine that there are some things I have to fix, as the wedding ring, so my clothes anyway, I called 2 weeks ago a business coach hire a small car to transport me and my family to Kent for the wedding. As expected the phone was answered by an educated woman. She introduced herself and the name of the company. I introduced myself and proceeded to tell about my needs. She asked me to hold the line while she gave me a price. After about 30 seconds, returned with what appeared to be a fair price. What happened next completely baffled me …
Once Mrs. I had given the appointment, she thanked me for calling and ended the call! I could not believe it! I am a client's decision-making authority and very willing to spend my money, and the girl ended the call! Now, if that's not a sure way to lose customers then I do not know what it is!
The incident followed a couple of days later. Similar to the first, I called another company, this time to inquire about a self-drive minibus. Once again I was greeted kindly on this occasion by a foreign-sounding woman, and again introduced myself and began talking to my needs. Guess what happened next … So … she gave me a price and then not I try to close and ended the call! By now I was really surprised.
When I was a little quiet later that day, I began to think that perhaps these companies should help coach realized his mistake because he had had 2 of 2 that had not tried to get a sale out of me. I started think there must be something in the industry … but it was not …
A week later I went to the well-known department store in Birmingham to find a wedding dress. went to the crowded store and up the escalator stairs at the Department Mens formal. I knew exactly what he wanted and started looking around, but unfortunately I could not find anything. I decided then I would ask someone from the sales staff … What sales team!? There was no turning! Eventually turned a corner to find three of them piled up on a box chatting away. Once again I was surprised, but decided to stay quiet this time I thought in running my own little experiment. So before I walked away I made sure they knew I was there. Then turned around and returned to the same place and looked the same clothes again. You know something … that did not move! Even looked at me and continued as if I was not there! You know what's the worst? He the money in my pocket and was ready to make a purchase. Sad.
My point? If any of the above persons asked me for sale, probably would have succeeded. There is no reason why you should not ask a customer purchasing power.
