A bride wears "Something Borrowed", usually taken from a happily married woman who is likely to lead prosperity to their own remarriage. "Something Blue" is probably a symbol that represents the desire of the bride's fidelity and success within her new marriage.
Wedding dresses for brides
The first known example of a white wedding dress was given in 1499, when Anne of Brittany wore white for her marriage to Louis XII of France. Until then, women simply wore their best outfits.
This tradition has roots come from biblical times, because the "Church" has been described as using a white dress as a symbol of purity and "Bride of Christ." Christian women often claim that a bride should not wear white if she is entering a second marriage or if not pure. This is a curious superstition because the "purity" of the church is actually supposed to come from Christ.
In guiding brides have traditionally used white. In early Roman times, white symbolizes a celebration full of happiness. Obviously, is today a symbol of happiness and a happy new beginning for other cultures.

The bridal veil was white as is the tradition most modern of today's nuptials. In ancient Greece was yellow. In Roman times, often dress would be red. Much of the symbolism is lost, but with a veil remains very popular. Originally, the veil was a symbol of purity of the bride, and of course her virginity.
Many people believe today that according tradition, is a bad omen for the bride to be seen by her husband to be before the ceremony. Remember that in history there were so many arranged marriages, often were likely to the groom does not see his bride until the ceremony. In some traditions, the veil of the woman hid until the boyfriend took her to discover what his new wife appeared.
In the United States, Nelly Curtis wore a veil at her wedding to Major Lawrence Lewis, who was a help General George Washington. The commander had seen his girlfriend, standing behind a gauze curtain and after he commented on how beautiful she was, Nelly decided to veil herself for their ceremony.
